MP and Mayor cycle too!

Will Quince on Pulp Friction1Mayor on bicycle 2015

Cycle Colchester persuaded new MP Will Quince to try out their pedal powered smoothie maker at the Street Wise festival on the 13 June.

They took the opportunity to talk to him about local cycling and he confirmed his wish to sort out Colchester’s infrastructure to help cyclists as well as bus users.

New Mayor Cllr Theresa Higgins has been seen out and about on her bike. Cycle Colchester interviewed her this month and she said, cycling is her preferred mode of transport for travelling to civic occasions, it’s often quicker, and cheaper than using the official car, so makes savings for the mayoral budget.

DSG’s ‘Poodle to the Park’

DSG bike week 2013

Bike Week update from DSG’s Neil Allen

To celebrate Bike Week and the start of the summer Colchester WKSP`s first ride of the year was the “Poodle to the Park” a gentle meander along the cycles routes with an ice cream stop by the boating lake. A clash with school sports day robbed them of the company of a number of colleagues, this generated a general chorus of bogus sympathy as their ice creams were shared out.

Please send in your Bike Week update!

DSG’s Bike Week ride

Neil Allen from DSG describes their bike ride….

‘To mark this years “Bike Week” staff from DSG Colchester took part in a lunch time 10 mile ride to the village of Fingringhoe and back. Described as a “pleasant poodle”, any suggestion that the event would be taken seriously disappeared with the arrival of two colleagues on an ancient tandem. Accompanied by much laughter and synchronized bellringing, hills were conquered and byways explored. So successful was the ride that it is proposed to make it a regular event!’
