CBC gets social
Inspired by the success of CBC’s walking and cycling challenges earlier in the year, Helen O’Halloran, a keen cyclist working within Professional Services at CBC, along with her colleague Suzanne Norton arranged a social weekend cycle ride and walk around Highwoods Country Park.
Helen said ‘It was a beautiful bright and sunny day and was lovely to see so many friendly faces coming along with their families to enjoy the weather and beautiful surroundings.’
Ten people, including four kids joined the cycle ride and fifteen people, including eight kids and two dogs came along for the walk around the park. With a couple of chocolate stops along the way, both ride and walk finished up with a lunch and a few beverages in the local pub. Everyone agreed how nice it was to catch up with people outside of work, that it had been a great success and something they would like to do on a regular basis..
Other dates are currently being discussed, so CBC staff, watch out for another invitation to join the PSU again soon!

Standing Together Walk 27 September
The Safer Colchester Partnership has organised a community walk on the 27th September to reclaim the pathway of the two recent murder scenes in Colchester. The walk will take a route from one murder scene to the other in remembrance and to demonstrate the local community Standing Together. This is the route where you can see where the walk will start and finish along with various check points on route.
This is an open invitation for anyone to join the walk on the 27th September. So please feel free to pass it on to colleagues, friends and family members who you feel would like to join the walk.

Pledge to walk for the chance to win £100 worth of shoe vouchers
Perfect Purdy over at LoveUrCarColchester is getting people out of their cars and on to their feet and is offering you the chance to win £100 worth of shoe vouchers. All you need to do is pledge to walk for short trips rather than taking the car.
Walking for short journeys is not only better for the environment and your health but is also better for the car. Short journeys don’t give the engine or catalytic convertor time to reach their operating temperature and efficiency, meaning more wear and tear.
So if you love your car and love Colchester, give your car a rest and join Purdy. What pledge will you make to change at least one of your short car trips for your feet instead?
Make your pledge between Monday 22 April and Friday 31 May to be entered into the prize draw. The winner will be drawn on Monday 3 June.
